Term 4 – UPDATE
I trust you all enjoyed the September holidays and the week off training to freshen up for the upcoming QGSSSA Athletics Championships, GPS Track and Field Championships, AIC Track and Field Championships and the Queensland Secondary Schools State Athletics Championships.
As the track season heats up for some of our athletes, our Cross Country runners need to start thinking about their preparation for the approaching 2015 Cross Country Season.
Throughout 2014 I have had the privilege of coaching an amazing group of young athletes who train with HIGH CADENCE which will culminate over the coming weeks with multiple events on the calendar.
Coaching at Padua College has also been a very rewarding environment in which to coach. Not only are the young athletes committed to achieving their best for themselves, there is the added excitement that comes from competing for your college or school.
You really have not heard noise until you have attended an inter school competition. The sheer volume of noise made in a stadium filled with several thousand very excited young people each trying to out do the other in their school war cries and cheers of support for their teams and athletes makes for one incredible spectacle that should not be missed!
Unlike individual coaching, team coaching provides a number of unique challenges, where a balance must be found between developing and respecting the needs of individual athletes with the necessity to put together competitive teams who will perform across individual age groups and levels. As you can imagine this can be very challenging to achieve but at the same time rewarding when it all comes together.
I’d like to wish all of the girls competing at the QGSSSA Athletics Championships at QSAC on Friday 17th October, the best of luck. Your luck on Friday will be the residue of your commitment to training and all your hard work!

I would also like to wish the 2014 Padua College Track and Field Team good luck at the upcoming AIC Championships. A special mention must be extended to the ‘Middle Distance Crew’. I know it’s going to be a fiercely competitive couple of days, but the truth is that everyone of you competing, has already earned my highest admiration and deepest gratitude to coach you.
